New Lovecraftian Medieval Horror Announced with Cast from The Slave and the Sorcerer!
almost 2 years ago – Wed, Jun 05, 2024 at 05:08:46 AM

So, this is a big day for me!

In collaboration with Megan Tremethick, Stephen Kerr, and Chris Capaldi (who all feature in The Slave and the Sorcerer), we've produced a Lovecraftian medieval horror epic that's almost two and a half hours long. Link : http://kck.st/3wzfLaI

This is a dark, conspiratorial political horror with occultism, murder, and betrayal, as kingdoms rise and fall during the sadistic last days of Queen Ginnarra's reign. Think of it as a medieval Downfall with eldritch sorcery and the Old Ones, whose prophet on earth is the most terrifying queen ever depicted on screen... played with relish by Megan Tremethick.

Grim, bleak, and horrifying, but not without humanity, in the form of Andrew Gourlay who plays the Queen's exiled brother. It is the Queen's attempt to murder her brother, who is on the run, that turns into an obsession—one with no cost that Queen Ginnarra isn't prepared to pay, in blood, death, and even souls.

In her performance, Megan Tremethick brings something of Helen Mirren as Morgana in Excalibur and Ingrid Pitt as Elizabeth Bathory in the classic Hammer horror Countess Dracula.

Even while editing this film, which I directed, there were takes Megan produced that would make me wither and wince behind the camera, as if to hide from her powerful glare.

So, if you would like to experience a dark horror epic starring many of your favourite cast members from The Slave and the Sorcerer, just visit Meg's Kickstarter campaign for Spoiling You at this link: http://kck.st/3wzfLaI

At the moment, we're still finalising the packaging art, but rest assured it will be beautiful like all our Hex Blu-Rays and packed with extras.

There are Blu-Rays, signed Blu-Rays, and complete editions available as stand-alone rewards or as bundles with Spoiling You. You can also get thank you credits on the movie (through an add-on pledge), and you can even get producer credits in the movie too—again either separately as add-ons or as bundle producer credit rewards with Spoiling You.

We're offering The Reign of Queen Ginnarra exclusively with the Spoiling You campaign to support Meg and our horror filmmaking family!

I hope you'll join us for the most epic indie horror fantasy produced so far, at a length that would make George R. R. Martin's beard proud.

Get it here!

If you've already pledged on Meg's Spoiling you Campaign, you can just use these steps to add 'The Reign of Queen Ginnarra' to your pledge, (in the add-ons are various options, including regular, signed and complete editions).

  1. Click on the "Manage your pledge" button on the Kickstarter campaign page.
  2. Select the "Change your pledge" option.
  3. Choose the same reward tier you initially selected.
  4. You'll then see a list of available add-ons. Select the desired add-ons and confirm your changes.

Costume Arrived for the Kawaii and Osorishii Photo-Sets! Oh My!

Meg is also offering photography sets inspired by Japanese Kawaii, in the form of a schoolgirl uniform and Osoroshii (terror), which will see her produce a demonic manga costume inspired by the character Slan from Berserk! These photos are more likely to give me heartburn than a mince pie too early on a Monday morning! So, if you pledge for either photo set, or the bundle, be sure to get some blood pressure medicine because just look at the costume items she's already ordered!

For that outfit, Meg's got leathery webbing, a corset, a fantastic-looking demonic choker, and big giant creature wings!

Reward Fulfilment!

A series of rewards will be fulfilled next week (the smaller ones) and some will be made available to all our Slave backers, such as the Arlo short story in which he dispatches several of our lucky campaign backers! It's violent, outrageous, and suitably perverse. In the meantime, almost everyone has their rewards, but not everyone. We're still sorting out issues for folks who haven't received their copy of the movie, such as in Greece, for example!

The Slave and the Sorcerer 2 & Important Update!
almost 2 years ago – Tue, May 28, 2024 at 07:56:57 AM

A Word from Nemain the Sorceress

A lovely, and slightly nervous young woman wants to say something to all our Slave and the Sorcerer supporters!

I think it’s awesome and respectful towards the backers of our Hex Studios campaign for The Slave and the Sorcerer that our very own Nemain the Sorceress wanted to produce a short video to reach out to you personally. In this short video, Meg talks about our sequel film The Slave and the General, and her very first horror project, which we’re very proud to support.

As you can see, we’ve even helped Meg produce a gorgeous-looking Blu-Ray Special Edition that will ALMOST be as good as our The Slave and the Sorcerer Blu-Ray bahaha!

Her film takes inspiration from violent J-Horror, along with the uncanny... the creepy... the psychological, and of course, stories with supernatural elements and twists. Spoiling You is also influenced by the anime cosplay and er... the demonic women of Wicked City and Ninja Scroll! (Er, let me adjust my breeches!)

Spoiling You looks set to be a memorable horror film, but first, our Nemain the Sorceress needs our support!

Campaign Link

And... ahem (adjusts bow-tie)

We all know how glamorous our Nemain the Sorceress is. In fact, some pictures of her were even complimented by Sarah Frazetta, daughter of the legendary artist Frank Frazetta, whose genius provided the inspiration for our Sword and Sorcery photo set!

Well, in Meg’s own campaign for Spoiling You, which takes inspiration from J-Horror, anime pop culture, and the demonic women of anime films such as Wicked City and Ninja Scroll, she’s now offering her own wonderful sets of photographic rewards which you can pledge for in her campaign.

These are going to be something really special, and Meg’s already got some very... um, intense costume design ideas. I think fans of the demon-lady Slan from the Berserk manga series will be pleased too.

Okay, okay, Nemain, but what about The Slave and the Sorcerer?

Well, firstly, we’re working hard on completing the rewards, and most importantly, we’re addressing some issues folks have encountered. I’ll give you an example. A chap from Greece emailed to say his Blu-ray was covered in seagull feathers. Why? No idea. But it must be fixed. Or, someone who was on holiday in the Amazon jungle for two months never received their photo set, and now they need it! We send them a link and so forth.

A very small minority of folks are having to wait (like half a dozen) because the t-shirts we received from the manufacturer had a print error. We will only send you the best we can get, and so we’re awaiting replacements. We’re also getting extra VHS stock after some confusion about NTSC/PAL selections. Luckily, they’re all on their way this week.

It’s little things, but it all counts. At the moment, the digital film was shared, but we’re preparing a more comprehensive digital package this week that includes the extras and some other goodies.

I must stress that you should email [email protected] rather than messaging me on Facebook! Sure, message me to say hi, but picture this:

I’m drinking bourbon in my pants, cursing at an invisible man standing in the corner of the room. You message me asking for a download link to something like Arlo’s secret story of naughtiness. I might miss it!

Whereas, with that email address, my minions (albeit missing arms and legs) will check in on you, and often I will too. So, let’s please consolidate any queries or issues there!

We will get to everyone! After all, we’re going to need everyone’s support to build a giant pyramid for the sequel.

A PYRAMID!

PS - What about this reward?

It's getting worked on! Plain and simple! Book of Beastly Creatures Volume 2, and the mechanical brass legs for your grandmother. All happening right now!

We'll come up with a fancier method at the end of the week for updating everyone on what's completed and what's not, so everyone can be on the same page!

PPS - Get your ass over here!

Did you know that I'm posting like a madman every day on our Patreon for The British Horror Studio (BHS) and that you can read those ramblings for free? Yes, there is a free tier, and the BHS includes Hex Studios, Amicus, and this charity which is awesome. ALL OF IT is geared towards horror and fantasy, and I suggest you join as a free member at least, so I can have some company in the twilight hours, and I’m not alone with my bourbon and your mother!

Sorceress Nemain Launches Her Kickstarter 'Spoiling You'

Sorceress Nemain Launches Her Kickstarter 'Spoiling You'

I wouldn't normally start an update for a project other than our 'Slave and the Sorcerer' project, but in this case, I'm making an exception for 'Spoiling You,' which is written and directed by our very own sexy sorceress... Nemain from our fantasy epic!

Nemain, played by the beautiful Megan Tremethick, is making her first horror movie 'Spoiling You'

Not only was she able to cast spells to raise my blood pressure, but we've also confirmed her to play a super prominent role in the sequel to 'The Slave and the Sorcerer.' But wait...

THERE'S MORE! Now she's directing her first movie, a horror film called 'Spoiling You,' which features an outrageous cameo from my fat ass... which I know will be particularly appealing to some of the impressionable young men among our backers.

You can.... Watch it here!

In fact, the whole pitch video is absolutely bonkers, and I think it turned out brilliantly. I would be proud and delighted if our awesome community for 'The Slave and the Sorcerer' supported her project.

It's inspired by a wild mixture of late 90s and early noughties J-Horror (think 'Audition,' 'Kairo,' 'Ringu,' and even anime), as well as Gothic Horror (her character Miss Mutter creeps about in a dungeon at night...). It’s well... I'll let her describe the rest in her own words in her video, which you can watch at the link right here. Like us, Meg is also a huge sword and sorcery, fantasy, and horror fan. She also loves manga and classic anime... the fact that one of her favourite films is 'Wicked City' already makes her woman of the year in my book!

REWARDS!!!

Back to 'The Slave and the Sorcerer,' I want to take the opportunity to correct any confusion caused by our shipping company using customs labels that identified the Blu-ray rewards as DVDs (they're all Blu-rays).

Most folks have their goodies now, but obviously, keep in touch if there are any issues. I will be checking the email address this Friday to check in with my team and make sure anyone who's got in touch is definitely getting their issues fixed!

[email protected]

If you've emailed already, don't worry. I'll be looking at any issues you have today, and apologies to anyone who's waited to get a response! But, rest assured, you're in my inbox, and I can see your name there, and we'll get it fixed for anyone experiencing delivery issues.
